Kitchen splashbacks - lime green

Lime green is a great colour to have in a glass kitchen splashback. It is a pleasing and refreshing colour that looks very striking under subtle down lighting.

Lime is a colour that is a shade of green, so named because it is a representation of the colour of the citrus fruit called limes. It is the colour that is in between the web colour chartreuse and yellow on the colour wheel. Previous names for this colour included, yellow green, lemon lime, lime green, or bitter lime.

The first recorded use of lime green as a colour name in English was in 1890.

Variations of Lime Green

• Lemon Lime: Lemon Lime is a fluorescent chartreuse colour that is named after the carbonated soft drinks such as Sprite, 7 Up and Sierra Mist. The red value to this neon colour is almost to yellow.
• Arctic lime: Close to Electric Lime, but created in 2009. This is one of the colours in Crayola extreme colours ultra bright coloured pencils.
• Volt: The colour Volt is used by Nike in several of their athletic products, most notably their Air Max 90 Hyperfuse training shoes, which were introduced in 2011. This colour is similar to Electric Lime below.
• Electric lime: This Crayola colour was created in 1990. This tint of lime is popular in psychedelic art.
• French lime: French lime is the shade of lime called lime in the Pourpre.com colour list, a colour list widely popular in France.
• Web colour lime: The web colour named lime actually corresponds to the green primary of an RGB display: it has a different HTML color code of #00FF00.
