If you've ever walked into a dance studio or a gymnasium that has a wall clad with mirrors, you will know that the first thing that hits you is the sheer size the mirrors give the space in question.
Even outdoor spaces such as gardens can benefit from mirrored features, these could be on a brick wall or even a fencing panel. Garden mirrored features are particularly desirable near water sources such as ponds and waterfalls.
Many people have replicated this idea over the years by choosing to place oversized mirrors strategically around their home, but the mirrored feature wall takes this a major step further.
Mirrored feature walls will provide you and your visitors with one of the most powerful visual experiences imaginable. Some of the worlds most respected interior designers will regularly use many types of mirrors to make the most of large and empty walls, thus creating a visually lighter, brighter and more spacious looking place.
Mirrored feature walls are simply walls that have been completely covered with either silver or tinted glass mirrors.
A mirrored feature wall doesn't actually have to be the largest feature wall in your home to be effective.
Sometimes we have rather small and dark corners of our home that recieve very little natural light because the nearest window is situated too remotely. These areas rely on artificial light to be useful, but this can all change with the careful use of mirrors.
If the wall opposite a darkened area has natural light reaching it, turning that wall into a mirrored feature wall makes sense, as the mirrors will make use of the natural light and reflect it into the dark void. The wall to be converted need not be substantial, but the difference the extra light it could generate with the help of mirrors could be.
A word of caution though, owing to the nature of glass it is important to hire a specialist glass company to measure, asses and survey the walls you want clad in this wonderful product. You will also want a professional to cut the mirrors and install them safely, as specialist knowledge goes a long way to getting the desired result and safety must remain paramount at all times.
In most cases rectangular glass mirrors can be used, however bespoke shaping will be required where angle cuts, cut outs for electrical sockets, holes or curves are needed.
A mirrored feature wall will makeyour landings and hallways look and feel longer and your living room, kitchen or bathroom will appear to double in size. With careful lighting, a mirrored feature wall can literally transform your home into a larger, lighter, brighter and better place to be.
