Nothing goes together quite like hot orange or red against a black background, which is why we have devised the Volcano kitchen splashback.
For millennia, the volcano has evoked the curiosity and awe of millions of people, now you can have one of your very own in your kitchen.
Volcanoes evoke wonder and attract millions of tourists around the world. Although when in an active and erupting phase they can be deadly, this supports local economies and provides jobs.
The forum of Pompeii, with ruined columns and the silhouette of the volcano Vesuvius in the background is an imposing and sobering sight.
The volcano Vesuvius destroyed the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, near the modern city of Naples, in an eruption in the first century AD. The sites are now major tourist destinations despite the proximity of the volcano, which last erupted in 1944.
The way in which we view volcanoes has endured for many years, with some cultures worshipping them and making sacrifices to appease the gods in the vain hope that they would not be punished by a deadly eruption.
There is something magical about the flowing lava and the intense destructive power that these natural wonders boast. So, despite their ability to decimate entire cities that lay in their lava flows path, people have been in awe of these gigantic natural wonders since the start of human habitation.
With the black, glossy toughened glass background that complements our Volcano kitchen splashback, it is little wonder why this particular design has become such a firm favourite with our customers recently.
The single volcano erupting and spewing its red hot molten rock in the form of lava, will often form the centrepiece of this exclusive and sought after kitchen splashback. The centrepiece is often situated in the tallest part of the splashback, usually as a backdrop to the cooker, with the lava field extending further across a run of splashback along a work surface. This eventually seamlessly transitions into the serenity of the black glass background, making for a truly dynamic and naturally beautiful addition to your kitchen.
Glass splashbacks are an incredibly beautiful and classic look for your kitchen and they add a genuine touch of elegance. They are growing in popularity as a low-maintenance and long lasting splashback that will keep your kitchen looking beautiful for years. However, they do require a different approach than traditional ceramic tile splashbacks, including special consideration when cleaning them.
Glass splashbacks are really easy to maintain as long as you follow a few basic rules. So, with that in mind, let's look at a few ways that you can clean your glass splashback to keep it sparkling for years to come.
Like any other splashback, our Volcano kitchen splashback can get scratched if you scrub it with a metal cleaning tool. Instead, opt for a lint free cloth that will allow you to scrub without damaging the glass beneath. Microfibre cloths are a great material to use on your Volcano kitchen splashback.
Glass cleaner is naturally a great option for cleaning your Volcano kitchen splashback, but you can also use methylated spirits or even good old hot soapy water. The key is to not use any abrasive cleaners designed for stain removal or heavy soiling. They etch tiny grooves into your glass every time you use them, a little bit like skates on ice. This means the glass gets dirtier more easily; it can dull the surface, and can lead to the need for a replacement much sooner than you would have wanted. Be careful as to what you're putting on your Volcano kitchen splashback and you will avoid any problems.
The best way to keep your Volcano kitchen splashback clean is to clean it regularly. Wipe stains off as they happen and every couple of weeks or so, thoroughly clean your splashback.
If you are having problems with streaking on your glass splashback, try using white vinegar. It's a quick and easy solution and it's an affordable alternative to store bought cleaners as well. After all, you don't want to ruin the surface, thus detracting from the natural beauty of your Volcano kitchen splashback.
Not only is keeping your Volcano kitchen splashback important for its aesthetic appeal, you'll want to keep it clean because it's in a food preparation area.
Glass splashbacks, whether plain, patterned or with an image like the Volcano kitchen splashback, will all need to be kept hygienically clean. Unlike grouted ceramic tile splashbacks, the toughened glass splashback will never experience the same build up of dirt and grime that grout attracts. Grout is rough; no matter how well it is installed, meaning it's a magnet for everyday grime and grease.
Our Volcano kitchen splashback is manufactured from super smooth toughened glass, so there is nowhere for the debris and grime to accumulate. This makes our glass kitchen splashbacks the healthiest and most attractive options for any kitchen.
