Glass creates an illusion of more space and allows outside features to become part of the interior design. With glass it is possible to link two different spaces together without the barrier of a wall giving you the ability to enjoy your home and garden throughout the year.
Our frameless systems create a contemporary design which safely maximises any view, allowing natural light to spread across the living space. This solution can be used for internal stairs, external balconies, or to act as windbreaks in exposed areas outdoors.
Balustrade posts provide a classic, yet still very popular, design choice. Manufactured using 2.6mm thick walled, 48mm stainless steel for superior strength. This high quality, external grade steel maximises durability and minimises maintenance.
Glass spigots create a modern, minimalist design choice which maximises your view. Glass spigots are a large glass floor clamp that secures the glass vertically. The individual 'feet' allow for natural drainage making it an ideal choice for external areas including patio, and decked gardens, as well as poolside areas.
The possibilities are almost endless. Whether you wish to modernise your home or office space, enhance it or create an eye-catching element in one of your rooms we are here to make your dream come true. Your wish is our command.
Perhaps a tropical landscape in the bathroom? How about a stylish banister or wall art? Or even a state-of-the art room divider?

At Splashbacks of Distinction we can even recreate different surface patterns too. That wood-style surface you always wanted is now possible and it comes with all the advantages of glass. Our customers also love our granite and marble styles which are perfectly stunning.

Many people have thought long and hard about having a new fitted kitchen or bathroom fitted, only to decide against it because times are hard at present and they feel that they can't justify the expense. Splashbacks of Distinction can help by livening up an old kitchen or bathroom design just by adding a new glass splashback; it really can give your room a much needed lift! Quite often it is the tile splashback that has gone out of date, has chipped or the grouting has seen much whiter days, whereas the rest of the room has many years left in it. Splashbacks of Distinction are in the Bushey area now and are always on hand to help you to decide on the right type of glass splashback to compliment your decor.
A recent client of ours in Bushey had been struggling for several years showering in her bathroom due to advancing age. Although she had a shower fitted over her bath, getting in and out was causing her some issues. She realised that she was now putting herself in danger of a nasty slip or fall, and as she didn't want to go without a shower, she decided to have the bath replaced with a bespoke toughened glass shower enclosure.
The glass was measured and fitted expertly by us and now our client can walk in and out of her new glass shower enclosure in total safety. Not only that, but if her mobility decreases over time, there is ample space for her to put a shower stool in the enclosure too. Needless to say, our Bushey client is delighted and she is also confident that the glass shower enclosure will have added value to her home and increased the chances of her or her family selling it after she's gone. Although we don't like to consider our own mortality, our client has said that she feels a definite sense of relief about being able to remain in the home she loves for much longer.
Our client in Bushey was so delighted with her glass shower enclosure and her new found independence, that she told a neighbour about the work we had done. The neighbour was also struggling with mobility issues and was finding it harder and harder to get upstairs to bed or to shower. The neighbour had been worried about having to move as she was now thinking seriously about having her bed moved downstairs, but she knew that going without a shower would be a real sticking point.
Fortunately, she did have a good sized downstairs toilet, so she made the decision to have her corner basin moved nearer to the toilet and a glass enclosure fitted to accommodate a shower. Now our client feels that she can remain in her own home with confidence, even if she can no longer get upstairs any longer.
The cost involved was considerably less than converting her upstairs bathroom and having a stair lift fitted. In short, we had two very happy and satisfied customers in Bushey.
The first written record of Bushey is its entry in the Domesday Book of 1086, which describes a small agricultural village named 'Bissei', which later became 'Biss(h)e' and then 'Bisheye' at some point of the 12th century. However, archaeological findings of Stone Age tools provide evidence that the area of Bushey was inhabited as far back as the Palaeolithic period. Bushey also has links to the Roman occupation of Britain, with the main road running through it being Roman; sites of possible Roman villas being unearthed in the area; and a Roman tessellated pavement was discovered in Bushey.
Bushey Heath's story begins in the Napoleonic Wars during a large food shortage. To help solve the problem, the government awarded the waste land to the east of Bushey to Bushey landowners to be used as farming; the land was more generally known as Bushey Common. Whilst the original aim was to produce food, being close to a railway and up to five hundred feet above sea level with beautiful and broad views made the area attractive for housing developers who had set their sights on the Bushey area for some time.
The 19th and 20th centuries marked the time of most change in Bushey, especially between 1860 and 1960. The population was raised many fold within two centuries, from 856 in 1801, to just under 24,000 today. The expansion was for many reasons, one of the main ones being due to the boom in industry caused by the railway in the early 20th century. A result was that many new jobs were created in and around Watford, and in the early 1920s; Bushey's first council houses were built. More housing was later built for the service families working in defence organisations in Stanmore and Northwood. The expansion eventually died down because much of the land in and around Bushey was protected under the Metropolitan Green Belt after the Second World War.
The lack of farming in Bushey Heath meant that it was a heavily wooded area up to the 18th century; this, added to the lack of street lighting and police, meant that Bushey Heath's history is full of tales of thieves, highwaymen and even murder. Prevalent were the robberies on Bushey Heath, the road from Bushey Heath to Stanmore is said to be where the highwaymen lurked, ready to raid the dozen or so caravans that passed through Bushey Heath daily, carrying money from trade in London. Before venturing through the pass, parties of travellers and merchants would form at the Boot Inn at Edgware and the Three Crowns at Bushey Heath so they did not have to venture through the pass alone. Although one of the highwaymen responsible for the attacks is rumoured to have been the notorious Dick Turpin, evidence suggests that he was in fact more active in the county of Essex.
You certainly don't have to be getting older to enjoy the benefits of glass in your Bushey home. Toughened glass can brighten and make any home more functional and easier to keep clean.
