The Splashbacks of Distinction show room is located at Watton at Stone in Hertfordshire with easy access from Hertford, Stevenage and surrounding towns. It is close to both the A1 and A10 which makes it easily accessible from North London.
We have a wide range of samples, styles, colours and textures for you to see and touch. Our clients have told us that being able to visit our showroom really helps them to visualise and develop their ideas so that they really end up with exactly what they wanted. Our workshop is next to the showroom so you can also see our products as they are manufactured.

It is often very difficult to see what a particular colour or finish will look like from a picture. We understand that and can supply samples of your chosen splash back to enable you to get the best possible idea of what your dream kitchen or bathroom will look like before it is fitted.
We already have hundreds of samples available to look at in our showroom including different types of finishes such as glitter or sparkle. We can supply a sample in any colour or finish you would like from our extensive range.
Our splash backs are often so vibrant that it is very difficult to really appreciate them from a simple image and with some finishes, such as the mirrored finishes, it is virtually impossible. With a sample you can get a much clearer idea of how your splash back will look in your kitchen and how it will compliment the other colours and textures around it.

At every stage of the production process each of our panels is quality checked. Once one of our panels has left our workshop, we at Splashbacks of Distinction transport it and install it. St Albans has a rich history
Standing on the former Roman settlement of Verulamium, historic St Albans Cathedral dates to Norman times and was built using Roman bricks. St Albans is also the home of Britain's first Saint, Alban, and the first battleground in the War of the Roses and has played its part in modern science as the home of philosopher Sir Francis Bacon.
Wherever you walk, St Albans is packed with reminders of its rich and fascinating heritage. The unique medieval Clock Tower dates to 1405 while the Roman Theatre is the only example of its kind in Britain. St Albans Market retains the lively spirit it exuded 1,100 years ago, while St Albans School, where Professor Stephen Hawking was a pupil, is one of the oldest in the world.
Modern culture has also stamped its mark in St Albans. Netflix drama The Crown chose St Albans cathedral as a substitute for Westminster Abbey, Stanley Kubrick, one of the 20th Century's greatest film directors, called it home while legendary 60s rock band The Zombies formed in St Albans.
The diversity of St Albans history would make a perfect scene to immortalise on a toughened glass kitchen splashback. A famed and memorable scene from a film or television production, to a vista of St Albans architecture would all look amazing incorporated into a splashback.
The Art Deco Odyssey is a historic cinema on London Road with its origin dating to 1908. It opened in 2014 following extensive renovations restoring the building to its 1930s glory with its name honouring Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Showing a wide selection of titles each month including new releases, foreign language films, cult rep screenings and classic the cinema also boasts two bars which remain open throughout the films.
Modern St Albans
The pioneering filmmaker Arthur Melbourne-Cooper was born in St Albans in 1874 at 99 London Road. He became a noted figure in the history of film when he began to explore the new art of moving photography in the mid-1900s. By 1908, he had set up a production base, the Alpha Production Works in Bedford Park Road, later moving to larger premises at Alma Road. Among the pioneering films he shot in St Albans was the animated fantasy, Dreams of Toyland in 1908. He also established a film theatre on London Road to present his productions to the paying public, the Alpha Picture House, which opened on 27 July 1908, Hertfordshire's first permanent cinema. The cinema changed hands several times, variously known as the Poly, the Regent, the Capitol and the Odeon. It was replaced by a new Art Deco building in 1931, and the cinema continued in operation until 1995. In 2014 the building was restored and re-opened as the Odyssey Cinema. This art deco building would be a great addition to any kitchen splashback in a St Albans property.
St Albans attack unifies a nation
During World War I in September 1916, following an attack on St Albans, the German Airship SL 11 became the first airship to be brought down over England. But when nearby London Colney was attacked, the nation was so angered it became united in its battle. The nation jealously guard the wonderful history of St Albans, and the attack from Germany was simply too much for the St Albans public and the country at large to tolerate.
In the inter-war years St Albans, in common with much of the surrounding area, became a centre for emerging high-technology industries, most notably aerospace. Nearby Radlett was the base for Handley Page Aircraft Company, while Hatfield became home to de Havilland. St Albans itself became a centre for the Marconi plc company, specifically, Marconi Instruments. Marconi, which later became part of the General Electric Company, remained St Albans largest employer with two main plants until the 1990s. A third plant, working on top secret defence work also existed. Even Marconi staff only found out about this when it closed down, as the work was so classified. Sadly, all of these industries are now gone from the St Albans area.
In 1936 St Albans was the last but one stop for the Jarrow Crusade.
St Albans expanded rapidly after World War II, as government policy promoted the creation of New Towns and the expansion of existing towns around London. The local authority built large housing estates at Cottonmill to the south, Mile House to the south-east and New Greens to the north. The Marshalswick area to the north-east was also expanded, completing a programme of mainly private house building begun before the war.
In 1974 St Albans City Council, St Albans Rural District Council and Harpenden Town Council were merged, as part of a major national re-organisation of local government in the UK, to form St Albans District Council.
