Desborough is a town in Northamptonshire. It is located in the Ise Valley, between Market Harborough and Kettering. In the 19th century, the town was an industrial centre for weaving and shoe making. It has a very long association with the Co-operative movement. Modern Desborough is a residential centre, with new homes and industry being developed to the north of the old town centre.
Desborough developed around the spinning and weaving industries, by the nineteenth century specialising in silk. Lots of archaeological finds from the iron age and Anglo-Saxon periods have been made in the town, some of which are in the collection of the British Museum. The Desborough Mirror is an example of this.
F. R. G. Heaf, the renowned professor of medicine and avid tuberculosis researcher, was born in the town.
